Characteristics of Matter

We used MysteryScience.com to discover some properties of materials and discuss why we wear clothing.  Our final project was to create a hat to help us block the sun.  Here's what we came up with using a paper plate, paper towel, and foil.  Great Job!

Good Fit Books

It's that time of year where we learn to choose books for our reading baskets.  We talk about if the books we choose fit the reason we want to read as well as our reading levels.  We need books that are "Just Right" like we need shoes to be "Just Right."

Seth was a good sport and tried on shoes for us to see if the different shoes were good for his purpose of being in school and if they fit him -- not too large or too small.

Mr. Games's work shoes were a little too big.

Flip flops might work for school but not with socks!  These are a little big.  We'd better try again.

It's not raining today and wearing boots that are too large won't work well.

Tennis shoes are great for school but again one pair is too big.

Uh oh!  Mrs. Games is in on the action.  Seth's shoe is too small for her and her shoe is too large for Seth.  They'd better go with their own shoes for the day at school.

COSI on Wheels

COSI on Wheels visited us on Friday, April 1st.  What a wonderful opportunity for us!  A big  THANK YOU goes out to our awesome PTA!
We had a great time learning about chemistry.  Different chemicals changed colors, glowed in the dark, and even changed temperatures when mixed.  We all got to make slime to take home.(You're welcome, Moms and Dads!  LOL)

The Whole School Assembly kicked off our day.

Here we are during our time to see all the stations.  Safety was always on our minds.  Check out our goggles.  We're looking good!

St. Patrick's Day - Who Is Worth More Than Gold

Our March bulletin board was made with a writing activity that tells who is worth more than gold to us.

Dr. Seuss Read-A-Rama

To celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday we had a Read-A-Rama.  We brought blankets, sleeping bags, and pillows, and then we read all day.  All kinds of books were read.  Some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books and even Harry Potter books could be found.

Taking AR tests to make sure we have our points for the swim party at the end of the year is a bonus!

Taking a break with Mrs. Smittle to play a game with our reading vocabulary was fun.

Our "Things" are decorating the hallway!
