2011 Christmas Party

Christmas is here!  Our parents planned an awesome party with games, crafts, and fun!

We had to FEEL the 5 objects in the stockings and write down what they were.

Mrs. Davidson helps Brittany feel the objects in the stocking!

Mrs. Hanshaw helps Rhett feel the objects.

Anessa's turn!
You can see our cute reindeer craft that we created with our parents' help.

Grandma Lois helps us make a Christmas Gift Alphabet. A is for airplane, B is ball, ...

Merry Christmas to all!  See you in 2012!

Math Fun

Here we are working on drawing some 2-D shapes and working in groups during math to play a review game.

The 12 Days of Christmas Books

We read The Twelve Days of Christmas and then The Twelve Dogs of Christmas and The Twelve Jingle Bugs of Christmas.  After brainstorming some ideas, we each wrote our own books:  The Twelve _____ of Christmas.  We had some wonderful stories and a lot of fun with beautiful pictures.

Read-A-Rama

Wow!  We can't believe that has been almost a month since we've posted anything.  Time flies when you are busy second graders.

Today was WV Read to Me Day so we had a Read-A-Rama.  We brought in blankets, sleeping bags, and pillows and read or listened to books ALL day.  We had a great time.

Thanks to Mrs. Smittle, Mrs. Colvin, Mrs. Lynch, and Miss Koehler for reading to us today.  Also, thanks to Mr. Kisner's class for doing a great reader's theater for us.  We learned a lot about making laws.  We hope the salmon are as successful in their attempts as the turkeys were!

Here are our pictures:

Taye and Jordyn choose books to read.

Anessa and Echo take some AR tests on the books that they've read today.

Jacob (above), Hayleigh, and Rhett (below) enjoy some beanbag chairs that Mrs. George let us use for today's fun.  We're really comfy!

The next several pictures below show us "hard" at work and enjoying some books.

Mr. Kisner class gets ready to perform their reader's theater for us.  Mrs. Games sees some familar faces from past second graders.

Hayden's an all grown-up 5th grader!
Elizabeth was in our class 3 years ago.  Now her little sister, Larissa, is here!

Hayden shakes his tail feathers for us.

Mrs. Smittle reads Fluffy's Thanksgiving.  Fluffy, the guinea pig, has some real adventures.  We figured out the the genre was a type of fiction called fantasy and Fluffy was a great example of personification.

Mrs. Colvin reads The Lucky Day, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and The Thanksgiving Mystery.  We loved her Scooby Doo voice!

If You Give a Moose a Muffin was definitely a favorite with us from Mrs. Lynch.

Miss Koehler read Frederick.  Mrs. Games remembers that book from when she was a little girl.  It is still one of her favorites.  Below are pictures of us listening and enjoying.
