Our First Day

We learned about "Good Fit Books."  That means you pick a book that fits you.  We compared books to shoes.  Shoes are different sizes.  Some books fit us better than others.  Shoes also have different purposes and we read different books for different reasons.  We learned to use IPICK when getting books.  That means we pick books for a purpose.  Why do we want to read a book?  What are we interested in?  Can we comprehend (understand) the story?  Do we know most of the words?
We colored a story about school rules.
We read a book called Chrysanthemum.  People made fun of her name.  It made her feel sad.  Mrs. Twinkle named her baby Chrysanthemum.  Chrysanthemum felt facinated and proud.
We had a good day on the first day of school in Mrs. Games's second grade class.
